Why Filitalia

The word “Filitalia” means Love for Italy. Filitalia’s goal is to preserve Italian-American heritage, tradition and culture through social, athletic, and cultural events as well as humanitarian programs. By supporting Filitalia, you help the following events and traditions take place:

Get Involved

Filitalia is an organization built on volunteering.
For the past 30+ years Filitalia has grown to become what it is today completely by the efforts of volunteers.

Filitalia volunteers can get involved by:

1. Become A Member of a Chapter
2. Then getting further involved within the Chapter and maybe even becoming a Board of Director member of the Chapter
3. Join A Committee on the International Board of Directors
4. Then running and becoming a President of a Chapter
5. Start your own Chapter
6. Then becoming the President of the entire Organization

Language & Tradition At “M. Fabrizio & P. Nestico Center of Language & Culture”

• Italian language & cultural classes for children & adults by certified teachers; day, evening, and private tutoring.
• Exhibits of Italian-American artists, cultural events, Wine & Soppressata contests and other culinary events.
• Academic scholarships from grade school, high school, AP programs, and graduate school.
• Participation in the Columbus Day parade and “Ferragosto Italiano.”

Charity & Community

• Christmas Seals to support needy families during the holidays and other charitable events.
• Walk-a-Thon to support the American Heart Association, Juvenile Diabetes and Leukemia Association.

Networking & Motivation

• Meet and build relationships with successful Italian-American professionals.
• Annual entrepreneurial recognition banquet.
• Students’ exchange and mentoring programs throughout the world.

• The Filitalia Foundation is a 501 © 3 private nonprofit organization created in 1987. In 2014, the History of Italian Immigration museum opened in the heart of South Philadelphia.
